Male Portrait Photography in Budapest

Male portrait photography without having to perform for the camera.

Many men arrive with hardly any good photographs of themselves and little enthusiasm for the shoot itself. We discuss how you want to use the images, and I give you clear directions so you never have to work out what to do in front of the camera.

A good photo shoot does not require experience, only clear guidance.

We begin by discussing how you want to use the images, the kind of atmosphere that appeals to you and the portraits in which you would like to recognise yourself.

You then receive clear directions at every stage. You gradually become familiar with the situation, and after a while the camera is no longer the focus of your attention.

How the photo shoot works

You do not need to know how to stand or what to do in front of the camera. I give you specific directions throughout the session, and afterwards you choose the photographs you would like me to retouch.

  1. We discuss the purpose and direction in advance

We look at how you want to use the images, the kind of atmosphere that appeals to you and the location that would suit the series.

  2. I guide you throughout the shoot

I tell you where to look, how to stand, what to do with your hands, when to move and when simply being present is enough.

  3. You choose the photographs

After the shoot, you select your favourites. The starting price includes 10 retouched photographs, and you receive one additional retouched image as a gift on the day of the session.

How much does male portrait photography cost?

Starting price

HUF 45,000

The starting price includes 10 retouched photographs, and the session usually takes place at one location or two nearby locations. The time spent helping you settle in and giving you direction does not increase the cost. I provide a bespoke quote in advance if you would like to use a studio, work at several or more distant locations, bring several outfits or develop a more detailed concept.

We work at a relaxed pace: the aim is not to measure the session by the minute, but to create a practical and varied series of photographs of you.

  • 10 retouched photographs selected by you
  • 1 retouched photograph delivered as a gift on the day of the shoot
  • online selection after the shoot
  • additional retouched photographs available separately
  • studio hire charged separately when required

It was my first photoshoot. By the end, the relaxed atmosphere and useful posing guidance had made me feel far more confident, and we created some excellent photos.

István Janzsó

Portrait photography English translation
5 out of 5 stars

Before the shoot I was nervous — more than a little — but we talked a lot, and the whole process became surprisingly natural. I received guidance, but nothing felt mechanical; it was simply a great atmosphere.

Using the images

Do you need personal or professional male portraits?

A male portrait series can be created for personal use, a dating profile, social media, a professional introduction or your own website. These purposes do not necessarily require separate sessions, but they may place different emphasis on the clothes, background, facial expressions and framing.

Personal portraits can give more space to the surroundings, movement and a relaxed appearance. For professional use, a simpler background, more direct eye contact and framing that works well at a small size, such as a profile photograph, are often more important.

We can create several different looks during a single session. A T-shirt or jumper can feel more approachable, a shirt or jacket more polished, while a coat or another distinctive item can make the series feel more personal. A few carefully chosen layers can significantly change the photographs without requiring a complete outfit change.

If you primarily need a consistent professional portrait with tighter framing, headshot photography may be the more suitable direction. If you need photographs in several situations, a working environment and a larger collection for regular use, brand portrait photography may suit you better. An individual male portrait session allows for a freer and more personal series than either of these options.

Frequently asked questions

What if I do not know how to pose?

That is completely fine. I give you simple, specific directions throughout the session, so you always know where to look, how to stand and what to do with your hands.

How long does the photo shoot take?

A male portrait session usually develops comfortably over 1–2 hours. We also leave time for you to settle in, and this does not increase the price by itself. Additional costs may apply for several or more distant locations, several outfits, studio hire or a more complex idea.

What should I wear for a male portrait session?

Choose clothes in which you feel comfortable and that suit where you intend to use the images. A simple T-shirt, shirt, jacket, coat or jumper can all work, depending on the atmosphere you want.

Do I need to wear a suit or formal clothes?

Not necessarily. A more polished outfit can work well for professional images, but you do not need to overdress for the sake of the photo shoot. We adapt the clothes to how you normally present yourself and where the photographs will be used.

Can we work in a studio?

Yes. We can photograph in a studio, with the studio hire listed separately in the quote.

Can the session take place outdoors?

Yes. An outdoor location can create more natural and relaxed photographs. We can choose an urban setting, a park or somewhere with personal meaning to you.

How many photographs will I receive?

The standard portrait session includes 10 retouched photographs. You choose your favourites after the shoot, and you can order additional retouched images separately.

When will I receive the first photograph?

You receive one retouched photograph as a gift on the day of the shoot. We agree on the delivery time for the complete selection based on the individual session.

Will the photographs be retouched?

Yes. You receive the selected photographs fully retouched. The aim is to create a polished result while ensuring that you still look like yourself.
