Cookie Policy

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small data file that a website or one of its service providers may place on a visitor’s device.

Cookies may be used to store settings required for the operation of a website, measure statistics, manage user logins or track visitors for advertising purposes.

2. Does this website use cookies?

In its current configuration, rolandszabo.photo does not place or read first-party or third-party cookies or other identifiers used for statistical, marketing or advertising purposes that require the visitor’s consent.

The website does not use:

• Google Analytics;
• Facebook Pixel or other advertising tracking code;
• embedded YouTube, Instagram or Google Maps content;
• externally loaded Google Fonts;
• user login functionality;
• personalised advertising.

The website’s fonts are hosted locally, so displaying them does not establish a direct connection with the Google Fonts service.

3. Ahrefs Web Analytics

I use Ahrefs Web Analytics to measure website traffic in aggregate.

Under its current default configuration, Ahrefs Web Analytics:

• does not place cookies on the visitor’s device;
• does not use a persistent visitor identifier;
• does not track visitors across different websites or devices;
• does not store raw IP addresses.

The service may process the title of the visited page, the referring page, technical information about the browser and device, the browser language, approximate geographical location derived from the IP address and information about page views, clicks and form submissions.

To calculate daily unique visitors, Ahrefs creates a technical identifier from the IP address and technical browser information using a random component that changes daily. The raw IP address is not stored, and the component previously used for identification is deleted and regenerated every twenty-four hours. The identifier therefore cannot be used to track a visitor across several days.

4. Contact form

The contact form transmits data only when the visitor completes and submits it.

The name and telephone number entered when submitting the form are not stored in a cookie. The data is transmitted through the Netlify form-processing system so that the enquiry can be handled.

5. Technical data processed by the hosting provider

The website is hosted by Netlify. When the website is loaded, the hosting provider may process technical log data to provide the service, resolve errors, prevent abuse and maintain information security.

Processing server logs is not the same as placing a cookie on the visitor’s device.

6. Why is there no cookie banner?

The purpose of a cookie banner is to allow visitors to decide in advance whether cookies or similar technologies that require consent may be used.

Because the website does not currently place or read statistical, marketing or advertising cookies or other identifiers requiring consent on the visitor’s device, a consent-management interface is not currently necessary.

7. Browser settings

Most browsers allow you to view, delete or block cookies that have already been stored. The exact options depend on the browser being used.

Deleting cookies through the browser does not currently affect the basic operation of rolandszabo.photo.

8. Future changes

If analytics requiring consent, embedded videos, maps, social-media content or advertising technologies are added to the website in the future, I will update this Cookie Policy and introduce a consent-management interface where required.
