If you would like photographs together from the period before your wedding, we adapt the series to you and how you intend to use the images. They can be created for invitations, a wedding website, decorations or simply for yourselves, and I guide you throughout the session so you can feel natural together.

The focus remains on the two of you: how you naturally spend time together, the situations in which you feel comfortable and the visual style that suits you. Detail photographs of the ring can be included, but the entire series will not be built around them.
What kind of photographs can we create?
The series can feel relaxed, urban, close to nature, elegant or more everyday. We can create portrait and landscape photographs, wider compositions and versions with space for text or graphic elements, depending on how you intend to use them.
How engagement photography is planned
We first clarify how you intend to use the images, then choose the location, clothes and atmosphere around that purpose. During the session, we work with simple, guided situations, so you never have to invent what to do in front of the camera.

The starting price includes 10 retouched photographs. The time spent helping you settle in and giving you direction does not increase the cost. I provide a bespoke quote in advance for several or more distant locations, studio hire, several outfits, a more complex concept or a larger collection for invitations, a website and decorations.

How does engagement photography fit into your wedding preparations?
We plan the date around how you intend to use the images
For invitations, a wedding website or printed decorations, you need to allow time not only for the session itself, but also for selecting and editing the photographs, designing the materials and arranging their production. It is therefore worth creating the series well before the final deadline.
If the photographs are primarily intended as a shared keepsake, you have more freedom when choosing the season and date. In that case, we focus more on the light, surroundings and atmosphere that appeal to you.
It is worth telling me your wedding date even if you do not yet have a precise plan for the images. This helps us understand how much time is available and which season would work best for the session.
The intended use determines the image crops you need
Invitations and wedding websites may require wider compositions with enough space for text, a date or other graphic elements. Portrait and square crops may also be important for social media.
We take these requirements into account while creating the photographs. This means you receive several useful versions rather than having to crop a single image heavily for every different platform.
It is also helpful to show me the planned style of your invitation or website. Even a simple colour palette, typeface or layout can help us coordinate the location and clothes.
The engagement session can also be a rehearsal before the wedding day
If I am also photographing your wedding, the engagement session gives you a chance to experience how I work and the kind of directions I give. I can also see how quickly you relax and which situations work well for you.
This means we will already know one another on the wedding day, and the camera will not feel like a completely unfamiliar situation. This can be especially helpful if one or both of you normally feel uncomfortable being photographed.
The series does not need to look overtly wedding-related. It can feel everyday, urban, close to nature or more elegant. Its connection to the wedding comes primarily from the period of your lives and how you later use the photographs.

Do we need photographs of the ring?

Choose clothes that complement each other in colour and overall atmosphere without being completely identical. If the photographs will also appear on invitations or a wedding website, it is worth considering the planned colours and style. We can review the possible outfits together in advance.
Can the session take place outdoors?
Yes. An outdoor location works particularly well for engagement photography because walking and movement make it easier to feel natural together. We can choose an urban setting, a park, somewhere close to nature or a location with personal meaning.
Can we work in a studio?
Yes. We can photograph in a studio, with the studio hire listed separately in the quote.
What happens if you are also photographing our wedding?
In that case, the engagement session also works as a rehearsal. You experience how I work and give directions, while I learn which pace and situations suit you. We will already know one another when the wedding day arrives.
